rail4chem Benelux B.V.

In autumn 2004 the German company rail4chem founded a Dutch subsidiary, and then took over all operations of one of the first Dutch private railways: Shortlines.

The main traffic of rail4chem is the container train from the Port of Rotterdam to Germany, but rail4chem also operates international tank trains to DSM in Geleen and container trains to Amsterdam. Also some cereal trains to Europoort are hauled by R4C.

Now that R4C has been taken over by Veolia (also active in The Netherlands) the locomotives are more and more commonly used. For the time being R4C will keep on operating under its own name in The Netherlands.
