Nostalgie-Istanbul-Orient-Express in Dresden Hbf. Voiture-Restaurant Présidentielle ex CIWL No. 3354 (51 85 08-30 006-9). This dining-car, which once served for the French government, has a long table for meetings and banquets. In the evening train it was unoccupied and closed. 2001-11-03.

CIWL (Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits et des Grands Express Europeens) Voiture-restaurant presidentielle (Presiden- tial dining-car) No. 3354. It was originally used as a normal dining-car and later rebuilt for the train of the French president. Today this coach belongs to the Nostalgie Istanbul Orient Express, it is owned by the Reisebuero Mittelthurgau and used on excursions in Europe under the UIC number 51 85 08-40 006-7. This coach still has the original Pennsylvania trucks. Weinfelden, 3rd February 1995.

Rear view of the CIWL Voiture-restaurant presidentielle No. 3354. The boxes to the left and right of the diaphragm are typical for CIWL cars. I don't know why this car has Japanese (!) inscriptions. Tobel-Affeltrangen, 3rd February 1995.

[additional information by Mamoru: This car traveled to Japan in 1988 for special event. The train left Paris and went through Moscow, Beijing, Hong Kong and the final destination was Tokyo. During staying in Japan, those cars were registered as cars belonged to JR East(former japanese national railway). Japanese on 3354 is the proof that it traveled to Japan. At that time, I was living in japan and really excited to see the European train running in front of me in Japan.]
