At the 26'th of may 2006, with an Event called "DSB-døgnet", the Danish state Railways offered extremely cheap all-day tickets for all of Denmark for only 50 kroner (Approx. 6,50 Euro!). The ticket was valid for an unlimited use of all DSB-trains for 24 Hours! This offer was used by very many people, with stuffed trains and delays as a natural consequence ;-) I mainly used the day for going to the Danish Railway Museum in Odense. This is CIWL 4247, an old Wagons Lits dining car, once used in Denmark.

Ausbesserungswerk (AW) Bremen, at the beginning of the 1980s.
This is the CIWL WR 1700, built in 1906 by van der Zypen & Charlier.
In 1917 it went to the Mitropa and was in service until 1955 under the
number 918. This car has six axles and can go up to 80 km/h. Today it is
preserved by eisenbahn-kurier Verlag, with non-authentic interior and
inscription.

Dining-car CIWL No. 3345 D. This car was stored north of the wagon hall
in the freight station of Freiburg (Breisgau). The windows and doors
were missing, but most of the interior exists, it was disassembled and
stored inside the car. The inscriptions are silver decals, they seem to
be similar to the original golden/yellow inscriptions. I saw this car in
this state in 1995, and when I took the photo in April 1996, nothing had
changed.
This car was in active service until 1988, then changed its owner several
times. The newest information is that it is stored in Elboeuf, France,
for a future museum. (Information by Lothar Behlau)

I saw this CIWL dining-car in a rather run-down state in Freiburg im
Breisgau, Germany, in autumn 1994. According to new info by Lothar
Behlau, it is probably the WR 2881 (Smethwick 1926), which went out
of active service before 1969, then was bought by Intraflug in 1977,
but the planned restoration did not take place. I don't know what
happened to this car meanwhile.

Until recently, the EuroCity trains `Vauban' and `Iris' between
Brussels and Switzerland had quite old dining-cars.
These were rebuilt in 1955 by Breda from older cars (built since
1927) damaged in the second world war. These cars, CIWL No. 4265
to 4269, were overhauled in 1985/1986, with a renewed (old-style)
interior and air conditioning, and repainted in orange to match
the Eurofima cars. A few years ago, they were replaced by ex-SNCF
Gril-Express cars and SBB CFF FFS dining-cars in these trains.
