The Gurktalbahn's 699.101 came to the Steyrtalbahn for overhaul in their workshops by volunteers. This business was in exchange for the wreck of 298.102, an original Steyrtalbahn engine which was in ownership of Gurktalbahn preservationists in the years before. Since May 2001 699.101 is back in service on the preserved Gurktalbahn (please note the "th" in the URL!)

699.103 on the Steyrtalbahn near Grünburg. The Steyrtalbahn was the very first 760mm gauge railway in today's Austria and after closure by ÖBB in 1982 it became a preseved railway between Steyr and Grünburg. For more information it's recommendable to visit http://linz.orf.at/gast/steyrtalbahn/steyr.htm

After World War II some locomotives originally built for military purposes ("Kriegslokomotive") remained on the ÖBB narrow gauge lines. Four of the type KDL11 were converted to tank engines and later equipped with Giesel-chimneys. Two of them survived until today and can be seen here together in Grünburg on the preserved Steyrtalbahn.

While the Steyrtalbahn's own 699.103 is shunting around her train, 699.101, owned by the Gurktalbahn awaits overhaul.
