SNCB/NMBS I1-B11 coach No. 51 88 21-40 128-9. Compartment side. The I1 coaches were built in 1931. 11 small compartments with 8 seats each, a toilet in the middle, the class reform of 1956 meant simply to apply a thin artificial leather padding to the wooden seats. These coaches went out of service in the 1980s after 50 years of service. Montzen, 2013-07-31.

PV13013_GMN1.jpg (137212 bytes)

SNCB/NMBS I1-A4B4 coach No. PV 13013 (that was all that was still readable). Compartment side. While the second (originally third) class coaches with 11 compartments all went out of service in the 1980s, the 8 compartment coaches (originally first/second, later first, first/second or second class) received a refurbishment with new disk-brake bogies and slightly updated interior for another ten years or so - but kept their original Diaphragms. They were still used in international peak hour services. Montzen, 2013-07-31.

SNCB_B_6.jpg (139213 bytes)

SNCB second class car I1 B8, a remnant of another era among modern Eurofima cars, with its rivets, drop windows, bellow diaphragms, set-back doors opening to the outside and "Torpedo" roof vents. The bogies are new however, a Schlieren type with disk brakes. The compartments are large enough anyway, as this was once a car of the old first and second class (hence the uneven window spacing). October 1986.
