SNCB 5936 at Ans with an engineering train during the building of the Belgian HSL-2 Liege-Leuven. It was the last duty for Belgian Reeks 59, that would have been out of service in 1989. SNCF hired the already decommissioned locos (which had to be recommissioned) when building their High Speed Line Paris-Antoign-Brussels. After that was done, NMBS/SNCB followed the French vogue and used these loco's for engineering trains of their own. Only in 2002 the Belgians could do without these veritable locos, that finally got their retirement. Scanned photo by Leon Schrijvers Leon2711schrijvers@yahoo.co.uk
