For safety tests the standard green livery from diesel shunter 8516
was replaced by a complete yellow livery.

| NMBS/SNCB Classes 83 and 85 were build from 1956 and were a strong modification of a British War Department shunter design (of which a few ran until the 1960s in Belgium as Class 230). TSP saved 8524 when the loco was decommissioned. Anyone interested in a plethora of Belgian diesel locos in museum service should plan the second full September weekend (European Heritage Weekend) for a visit to Saint-Ghislain -the museum depot is ajacent to the station. Anyone interested in British electric and diesel locomotives on the European Continent might find themselves reading BRITS ABROAD by Kenn Carr and David Maxey.
