DC electric 2729 was just coupled to D 424 (Cologne-Oostende) in Aachen Hbf on 19 October 2001. The train was brought to Aachen by a german (AC) loco. There are four tracks in Aachen Hbf which can change between 15 kV AC and 3 kV DC. In many cases multi-voltage locos are used (Thalys trainsets or belgian class 16), but some trains change their loco here. Note that both pantographs are raised. The train is composed of older cars, some are in the old Memling colouring. The german diesel 225 020-7 will push the train on the 2.7% grade towards the Buschtunnel.
