The substation at the eastern end of the LGV 3 (new high-speed line between
Aachen and Liège) seen on 11 May 2008. As the old line (on the left,
junction of the two lines in the background) is electrified with 3 kV DC,
this is also the end of the section electrified with 25 kV 50 Hz. The
building on the right seems to be a signalbox, of course uncrewed and
remote-controlled.
