Locomotive 46-208-5 of BDZ is just exiting the station of Yambol heading the afternoon express train from Burgas to Sofia. The locomotive itself is quite modern by Bulgarian standards and the passenger cars of the train are also newer than the majority of cars of BDZ, so this train offers a passenger service of a fairly decent quality.

BDZ 46-208-5 rushes beneath a bridge and will shortly arrive at the railway station in Yambol right on schedule with an espress train from Sofia. The train remains in the station for about two minutes and in 11:50 is ready to continue on its way to Burgas. To the left a number of tank cars and a few open freight wagons can be seen, while the hideous picture in the background is courtesy of the scrap yard in the freight section of the station. 21 August 2003

Locomotive 46-208-5 of the Bulgarian State Railways at the head of an express train from Sofia to Burgas. These type of locomotives were built in Romania and with their fresh yellow-blue livery are arguably one of the best looking not only in Bulgaria but in Europe, in my opinion, despite their considerable age. This train is just entering the freight yard of the railway staion in Yambol and will arrive at the staion itself with a slight delay of only about 5 minutes. Even though the railway system in Bulgaria is not in its best condition, trains running through the southern part of the country are quite punctual and usually do not exceed a 10-minute delay despite the relatively large distances they have to cover
