Shumen BŽD station This is one of the station signs for Shumen, in northeastern Bulgaria, near the Romanian border and the Black sea. Travelling on the Bosfor line (TCDD - BŽD - CFR) to Bucharest, using an electric locomotive since Dimitrovgrad in the southeast. At Matnitza or thereabouts, the train changes direction with an electrical locomotive until Ruse where it changes once more to a diesel locomotive, and then on to Giurgiu and Bucharest in Romania.
