Funicolare San Salvatore

The bottom station of the San Salvatore funicular, in Paradiso, Ticino. This goes halfway up before having to change to another funicular that has a much steeper grade. In summer, the service is much more extensive than in fall, winter or spring. Taken 3 August 2004

Funicolare San Salvatore

This is the schedule, without any guarantees (I learned this the "hard" way) that each departure will even take place. Sometimes there might be a glitch in the control software that controls the ascent and descent, and will have to be corrected until the next train can arrive. Taken 3 August 2004

As the sign shows, the schedule is valid from 11 June to 11 September 2004.

Funicolare San Salvatore

This is inside of the lower half of the San Salvatore funicular (with the less-steep grade). Taken 3 August 2004

As the sign shows, the schedule is valid from 11 June to 11 September 2004.

Funicolare San Salvatore

At the top station of the San Salvatore funicular, in Paradiso, Ticino. This goes halfway up as seen on the right, before having to change to another funicular that has a much steeper grade, as seen on the left. This is only a partial-scale model, to conceptually show how the trajectories were constructed. Taken 3 August 2004

Please note, if you manage to visit the Melide Swiss-Miniatur Museum, you should be able to find a smaller scale model, actually moving up or down. Such will not qualify as a valid picture, but in my opinion it is worth a mention.

Lugano_San_Salvatore6.jpg (60649 bytes)

Funicolare San Salvatore

This is inside of the lower half of the San Salvatore funicular (with the less-steep grade). Taken 15 September 2000

This is a night picture. If I remember correctly, the next night was the last night that the funicular operated after 9 PM daily.
