The rack switch at the exit of the station Lauterbrunnen of the Berner Oberland-Bahn seen on 18 March 2002. Where the rack crosses the rails, a part of the rack and a part of the rail are moved together to put either the rack or the rail into position. The rack is a Strub type in the switch, but a Riggenbach type on the open line in the background. At railways with both rack and adhesion sections, rack switches are rare, there are only two in the whole BOB network.
