This is the steepest cog railway in the world the Mt. Pilatus Railway in Lucerne, Switzerland. It uses the Locher rack system to climb grades of 48% !

Die Pilatusbahn ist die steilste Zahnradbahn der Welt. Sie basiert auf dem Locher Zahnradsystem, bei dem die Zahnstange seitlich angeordnet ist.

Bei der Bergstation. Das erste Gleis ganz rechts, das zu einem Abstellgleis führt. Das Abstellgleis auf der linken Seite führt ins Leere. Für die Lokführer ist also Vorsicht angebracht.
