RhB diesel shunter class Tm 2/2 #21, Scuol-Tarasp
RhB Tm 2/2 21 seen at Scuol-Tarasp. Between 1957 and 1969 the company Robert Aebi (Raco) delivered the diesel-mechanical tractors Tm 2/2 56 to 67 based on the Tm II of the SBB. The mechanical structure was designed and built by RACO, the diesel engine was Saurer-SLM. The power transmission from the engine to the axles was performed using chain drive, thus these tractors are suitable only for light shunting at railway stations. During reconstruction in 1989-90 the Motors of SLM were replaced by those of Cummins, while the numbers were changed to 15 to 26. The original red-brown, today orange-painted vehicles are 5.06 m long and 9 tons. They carry out the shunting at stations with small to medium volume of goods, most of the 12 tractors are permanently allocated in their respective 'home station'. Photo taken Saturday 21 June 2003.
