BN (Bern - Neuchâtel) Be 4/4 761, built 1953, coupled with EBT BDe 2/4 240 and VHB De 4/4 259 (both built 1932). Only three units of this type (including one for the GBS) were built with a power of 1470 kW, speed of 110 km/h, length of 23700 mm and weight of 64 t. When built they were the most powerful passenger power cars of the world. The highly successful RBe 540 series (still operated today by SBB CFF FFS) and similar power cars for other private railways were derived from the Be 4/4 761 to 763.

BN (Bern - Neuchâtel) Be 4/4 761, seen from the pantograph end. Compared to the later RBe 540 and similar units, it has only narrow front doors with open gangways to the next car. The two-tone green livery was only applied in the 1950s, later these units became dark green all over. The unit could be operated with regular passenger cars and a cab car.
