The Ae 8/8 double locomotive No. 272 of the 
Bern-Lötschberg-Simplon railway in Brig, 20th March 1994. In the 
fifties, some 
of the Ae 4/4 were delivered as semi-permanently coupled pairs, 
with one cab and pantograph in each half unit, and numbered as
single locomotives Ae 8/8. Some single units class Ae 4/4 were 
converted to this arrangement later, as they were mostly used in 
double traction for heavy freight trains on the Lötschberg 
line.
