Bellevue_sept00_01.jpg (62368 bytes)

Bellevue Tram stop.

Bellevue tram stop, east of the Quaibrücke which separates Zürcher See from the River Limmat in Zürich. Just southwest of this tram stop, is the place where on the third Monday of every April, the Böögg is burned, hence the name Sechseläutenplatz. Slightly east of this tram stop is the SBB Station "Stadelhofen" served by tram lines 11 and 15 and has a connection to the Forchbahn, also known as S-18, to Forch and Esslingen, and also the S-Bahn.

At Bellevueplatz, seven tram lines intersect. These would be lines 2, 4, 5, 8, 9, 11 and 15. By design, this tram stop is very similar to Paradeplatz and Central, both of which appear to be in a triangle formation.

Zürich VBZ ad for the trams

Since today in Zürich was the Sechseläuten festival, the city tram company VBZ had put up some banners, to get motorists out of their cars and ride the trams instead. Trams were rerouted for the Sechseläuten festival to avoid interfering with the parade of the Zünfte (guilds) which traditionally happens at 3 PM, and the burning of the Böögg happens exactly at 6 PM that day. Taken 23 April 2001.

Near "Schwamendingerplatz" in Zürich

Heading east on Tram line 7 or 9, from Schörlistrasse, leaving the tunnel and approaching the Schwamendigerplatz tram stop, after crossing back to right-hand-traffic. From Schwamendigerplatz to Schörlistrasse, the trams must, due to their design of being unidirectional, change to left-hand traffic. This is because Schörlistrasse, Tierspital and Waldgarten, all of which are underground, have central platforms. The trams come out in different tunnels before approaching Milchbuck to transfer to tram lines 10 or 14. Taken 12 September 2000.

zurich-kalkbreite.jpg (110959 bytes)

Kalkbreite is a regular tram stop of the biggest Swiss city. For the clean way into the the low floor central sections of some trams, a part of the pavement is stilted. All of the tram stops is equipped with ticket vending machine. All the tramroutes of Zurich has a number and a "color code" which is the background color of the route number and the color of the numbers. These color codes are indicated on the trams, in the stops and on the network maps.
This photo was made on the 15 of July, 2004 in Zurich.
