Ex-Metropolitan middle car 70 80 10-95 704-9 Apmz116.2 in Köln Hbf, 2006-07-21. These trains are used as regular IC/ICE trains since the end of the Metropolitan as a separate train category. This car still has the original Club/Business interior (spacious leather seats), but is marketed as second class despite its official designation.

Ex-Metropolitan locomotive-side end car 70 80 10-95 707-2 Apmz116.1 in Köln Hbf, 2006-07-21. These trains are used as regular IC/ICE trains since the end of the Metropolitan as a separate train category. The end car and the next have been rebuilt to "Traveller" with 2+2 seating and are marketed as second class despite their official designation. As you can see, the Metropolitan has a regular rubber gangway on this end, so it could theoretically be extended with regular rolling stock.

met_int1.jpg (99766 bytes)

The interior of the Metropolitan, seen in MET 1032 (Hamburg-Cologne) during the stop at Essen on 1 May 2003. This is car number 4, it belongs to a class called Office, which is meant for passengers who want to work during the travel. Electric sockets for portable computers are at each seat. In front of the gangway to car number 5 there are emergency exits at both sides, the other end of the car has normal entrance doors. Some of the trips on 1 May 2003 (including this one) were special events to promote the Metropolitan, so tickets were totally free for those who managed to get them.
