Dresden Hbf, 2001-02-07: by special request, here is a photo of one of Germany's most unavoidable carriages, 2nd class compartment coach type Bm 235 in an InterCity train to Hamburg. Built in large numbers in the 1970s and enabled for 200 km/h, these cars were a modification of the old express cars Bm 234 from the 1960s for IC service, originally painted ivory and ocean-blue. They are still used in IC trains, even though they are not up to today's standards of passenger comfort any more, and in many cases quite worn out. This one carries the orient-red, pink and white IC livery of the late 1980s, meanwhile a few have been repainted in the newest colours traffic-red and white. A number of these cars are now planned to be modernized by PFA and sold to NS to help a shortage of rolling stock there. Photo taken by special request of Marco van Uden.
