DB_car_AD.jpg (139850 bytes)

This train ran daily exclusively for the American military forces, and this 1st class car with baggage compartment used by the Military Police. The most of the cars were unique, but unfortunately there is no photo of them. The platform near the train was full with MP's, and I have not had courage to take photos. Frankfurt am Main Hauptbahnhof, May 1990.

Ludwigs-Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft No. 8, built 1835, rebuilt 1838 and 1846, in service until 1877. This is the last remaining vehicle of the first German steam railway, it has three compartments with padded benches, glass windows and oil lights. Rumours that King Ludwig I. used this car in 1836 saved it from scrap; two individuals purchased it for the Germanic National Museum. Since 1925 it is in the Verkehrsmuseum Nürnberg. 2011-02-02.
