31 locomotives class 146.0 (Bombardier Traxx 1) were built since 2001 to run with RegionalExpress trains up to 160 km/h. The line RE 1 operates hourly on the line Aachen - Köln - Düsseldorf - Duisburg - Essen - Dortmund - Hamm, it is called "NRW-Express" because it covers much of Nordrhein-Westfalen. The rolling stock consists of air-conditioned double-deck coaches built in Görlitz.
