An unidentified class 185 loco passes Köln-Lövenich with a westbound freight train on 28 December 2005. Note that on the highspeed tracks (used by ICE and Thalys running 250 km/h) most of the snow was blown away, on the S-Bahn (suburban railway) track next to the platform (allowed speed 120 km/h, but all trains stop here, thus they are even slower) a lot of snow remained. 16 May 2004, railway line Karlsruhe - Mannheim near Karlsruhe Hbf, Germany A class 185 electric sporting DB AG logos with a second, brand new looking class 185 with Railion inscripions dead in tow, heading a freight train. While the locomotives are unidentified, their having two pantographs each only shows that neither is equipped for circulation into Switzerland or France. 16. Mai 2004, Strecke Karlsruhe - Mannheim nahe Karlsruhe Hbf, Deutschland Eine 185 mit DB-AG-Logos und eine kalt mitgeschleppte, nagelneu wirkende weitere 185 mit Railion-Anschriften vor einem Güterzug. Zwar konnten die Loks nicht identifiziert werden, doch die Ausrüstung mit jeweils nur zwei Stromabnehmern zeigt, dass keine von beiden für den Verkehr in die Schweiz oder nach Frankreich ausgestattet ist. Goods train on the line on the right hand side of the River Rhine south of Koblenz. Most goods trains run on this line, while most long-distance trains use the line on the left hand side. All pictures from this series were taken during a bout trip from Koblenz to Ruedesheim. On a sunny day it is really a pleasant trip and there is a lot more to see than just trains.
