189 003-7 departs from Aachen West with a freight train towards Cologne on 16
July 2003. 182 012-5, which is switched off, is coupled behind. It seems that
the 182 is the loco which was originally intended for this train, and the 189
was attached for some kind of driver training or so. Note that this is the
"Central Europe" version of class 189, equipped with a wide AC pantograph (for
Germany, Austria and Denmark) which is used at this time, two (wide) DC
pantographs (for most DC systems for example in France and Belgium) and a
narrow AC pantograph (for Switzerland and 25 kV AC systems in western Europe)
at the rear end.
