On a boat trip on the Spree Channel, we caught this glimpse of an ICE-1 emerging from between two buildings. It was our first ICE sighting of the trip and was an impressive sight.

View from ALexanderplatz TV Tower, constructed by the soviet regime in the late 60s and originally Europe's highest tower. The day was a bit foggy, but provided stunning views of the immediate area. this ICE train is pulling out of one of the station Friedrichstraße.

Another view from ALexanderplatz TV Tower. This time the ICE train is slightly closer. Two S-bahn trains are in evidence. We found it very efficient that it is possible to cross the City Centre on a through intercity-type train; a far cry from the nightmare of transfering between London stations.
