The arches of the approach ramp of the "Bridge of Remagen" on the left bank of the river Rhine are partly collapsed, too. A two-track railway line crossed the Rhine here between 1917 and 1945. The ruins are preserved as a monument. Remagen, 2001-05-06. Photo and scan by: Klaus von der Heyde |

On the right bank of the river Rhine, the tracks from the famous "Bridge of Remagen" crossed the right bank railway line and ran into a short curved tunnel, before joining the right bank line tracks. The tunnel mouth is walled off today, the light brown stones visible between the two black towers. Remagen, 2001-05-06. Photo and scan by: Klaus von der Heyde |
