Testing is planned both around Tübingen (Baden-Württemberg) and Augsburg (Bavaria), so the unit has a half-bwegt, half "Bavarian" design. Seven units have been ordered for the Heidekrautbahn (Brandenburg/Berlin) for an extended practical test including a local hydrogen generation facility.
