The station of Horrem on the upgraded line Cologne-Düren (ABS 4) seen on 1 August 2005. Track 7, which used to be a track for freight trains, is being equipped with a temporary platform. It will be used on the weekend of 20 to 21 August 2005, when the final event of the World Youth Day 2005 will take place some kilometers south of Horrem. A lot of people are expected to arrive here by rail. The temporary platform is mainly intended for special trains, as it is 400 m long (the regular platforms are just 200 m long). The signal in the foreground is a distant signal repeater, on the right is the platform of track 6.
