The new station at the Köln Bonn Airport seen from the elevated street
next to Terminal 2 (at the northern end of the station) on 12 October 2003. The
glass roof is still under construction. Deep down in the station (18 m under
the surface) the tracks and platforms are visible. On the left side some stairs
are visible, leading into the ground next to the station. They serve as exit
for an emergency gangway which will cross under the roof in the middle of the
platform area. The area behind the streets in the background, where the
southern access to the station will be located, looks empty in this picture,
but some meters further left is the corner of the Terminal 1.
