Former (G)DR steam locomotive 41 1185 (1'D1') in the station of
Blankenburg(Harz) on 31/08/96. Blankenburg is the starting point of the
Rübelandbahn, the only German railway electrified with 25kV 50Hz.

Germany – Every day a train of Russian coaching stock used to leave Magdeburg for
Berlin and eastwards, with a gauge-change at Brest-Livotsk, carrying Russian Army
personnel home on leave. Specially hauled by a steam locomotive for a "Plandampf",
the train is seen here with 2-8-2 41 1185 blasting past Block Parey, between
Magedeburg and Genthin. 19 October 1991.
