DR steam locomotive class 41 #1231, Weimar
Historical steam locomotive 41 1231 during an exhibition in Weimar. Built in 1939 by Borsig and put into service by the Deutsche Reichsbahn 3 March 1939. Since 1986 it is maintained by the railway heritage association in Staßfurt but not operable anymore since 30 November 2006 due to to the end of vehicle inspection deadline. On this sunny day some years before 41 1231 was used to carry railfans a few hundred meters over the roundhouse tracks and back. Photo taken 24 May 2003.
