Steam locomotive 50 3688 on the turntable at the end of the line in Thale,
located in the middle of the Harz. This turntable had not been used for some
time, and was brought into operating condition again just for the steam
enthousiast travelling with the SSN Harz Express. 31/08/96.

50 3690 is a 1941 2-10-0 freight locomotive built by Henschel & Sohn in Kassel as #50 1465. It was rebuilt and renumbered in 1961 and is now preserved by the Deutsches Dampflokomotiv-Museum at Neuenmarkt-Wirsberg. It was photographed on Thursday September 19th, 2002 from the Bayreuth-Hof train which reverses direction here.

| Former east German 50 3696 is now in Belgium with museum railway CFV3V (Chemin du Fer Vapeur de 3 Vallees) and readies itself on 26 September 2009 for departure in Mariembourg for the very scenic line to Treignes.
