In the end of 1981 the oil heated heavy freight steam engines in Sangerhausen and Nordhausen were replaced through the lighter coal heated locomotives class 52.80. On this picture you can see the 52 8096 in Blankenheim (Harz) in march 82.

DR 52 8118 was sold for scraping many years ago. Since this time it was parked at the area of the jail in Brandenburg. Meanwhile the owner cancelled all plans to destroy this locomotive and moved it to his own ground at the area of the former steel-plant in Brandenburg. 26th of November 2004.

DR 52 8152 was sold for scraping many years ago. Since this time it was parked at the area of the jail in Brandenburg. Meanwhile the owner cancelled all plans to destroy this locomotive and moved it to his own ground at the area of the former steel-plant in Brandenburg. 26th of November 2004. A third steamer (52 8129) should be parked somewhere at the port of Brandenburg.
