The fist high floor light rail vehicle class K5000 as operated by Stadtwerke Bonn (SWB) was delivered July 8, 2003 and tested on track the very same day. 
These modern LRVs are a joint development of Vossloh Kiepe and Bombardier Transportation.

A total of 15 units that are quite similar to the 59 LRVs class K5000 built for Cologne have been ordered by SWB.
