Hannover: The last car of the TW 6000 series in Hannover, 6260,
and the first of the TW 2000 series, 2002.
Note that after 6260 a six-axled grinding machine was built for Leipzig and that TW 2002 was delivered earlier than 2001 because that one was shown at Hannover fair. Photo by Sven Herzfeld (s.herzfeld@maschsee.han.de) |

Hannover: Once built as a temporary arrangement, the fly-over at
Aegidientorplatz should be scrapped when the subway under it was
ready. However, it survived a whole decade after then. But just in
time for the EXPO 2000, the place will be redesigned and the ugly
rusty thing is going to disappear. Line 10 already ends at the
beginning of it, the photo was taken in 1996.

Hannover: The new üstra depot Leinhausen (on the area of the DB
works) called Fuhsestraße is under contruction since 1997 and
will be completed in late 1999. When the track leading there
was built, there was a strange view for some weeks: the masts
for the overhead wire stand next to some older graves. (First
time I made tramway-related pictures in a cemetary ...)

Hannover: Three generations of trams at Glocksee depot on April 20, 1997.
To the left the last 3 of the 500 series (built 1961/2) trams await their farewell
trip. In the middle two rows of the still actual 6000 (built 1974-93), and to the
right a work car (salt waggon) which was rebuilt from a passenger car of the late
1920s.

Hannover: From a footbridge at Lahe (Line 3) you can almost touch
the 600 V. Better have a look at the large resistors for the
electrical brake. However, usually the generated current is not
burnt but fed into the overhead cable.

Hannover: When a train reaches Langenhagen, this signal informs the
driver where he can go. Here, the left side is free for a train
consisting of two cars, the right is full. The top light is the signal
for the crossing and switches, only two TW 6000 are allowed there.

Hannover: tix - that's "ticket box" is the name of these machines. As
in the new TW 2000 cars the driver won't sell tickets, all stops get
some tix. While they are easy to use and have a pleasing design, they
also have one disadvantage: tix only accept the "GeldKarte" as
electronic cash, a loadable chip similar (but not compatible) to the
phone cards. And the use of them is not really common now.
