The building site for the new underground station Bonner Wall seen from the
south side on 22 April 2006. On this weekend the parts of the tunneling machine
"Tosca", which will drill the eastern tube towards the main station, were lifted
into the starting pit. For this purpose an 800 t lattice girder crane (on the
right) and a 500 t truck-mounted crane (in the background) were used. In front
of the latter, the center shield (Mittelschuß) of the tunneling machine is
visible, it was delivered in this position (with the thrust cylinders pointing
upwards) by a low-loading truck. Both cranes will work together to rotate it,
then the 800 t crane will lift it into the pit. The startup of the new
underground line is planned for 2010.
