DH_work1718.jpg (131067 bytes)

On the track between track 17 and 18 of Dresden Hbf (currently closed for trains) I saw this highly unusual work train, consisting of two dual way unimogs with an improvised rail crane inbetween, which is actually a truck-mounted crane without wheels loaded onto a flat car. You can also see the steel structure that has been built over the tracks so that the roof can be replaced while trains continue operating. 2001-03-21.

Zweiweg1.jpg (98467 bytes)

Years ago, the Hannover industry fair was an important showcase for new railway technologies. Nowadays only a few road/rail dual way vehicles remain of this former glory (no wonder as the track is not connected to the railway network any more); if you want to see railways, you have to go to the Innotrans in Berlin. I have taken photos of all seven vehicles shown at this year's fair (2001).

Here we see a Zweiweg / DaimlerChrysler Unimog with quite a sturdy frame, probably to meet EBO strength requirements. 2001-04-26.
