Velaro E unit 16, middle car 90 71 7-103 316-6 (Preferente). Interior. As AVE has three comfort levels, this is the "middle class" with 2+1 seating arrangement, seats in rows (can be rotated by staff), blue fabric seat covers. The seats belong to Grammer's ICE3000 family. Innotrans 2006, Berlin.

"Club class" is the highest class in AVE's three-class system, with wider leather-covered seats, longer seat pitch, larger tables and at-seat service from a special galley. The seats can be rotated into the direction of travel (the wooden butterfly tables can then be moved into a different position). Innotrans 2006, Berlin.

renfe AVE Velaro E unit 16, end car 96 71 9-103 616-9 (Turista). Half of the train belongs to this "ordinary class" which is very comparable to 2nd class in most other high-speed trains. At least the seats are reclining a bit and have soft head pillows. All cars offer overhead screens (not sure which program will be shown in regular service) and individual plugs for headphones at each seat. Innotrans 2006, Berlin.

• Green salad, Serrano ham, Mahón cheese and Genoan Pesto sauce;
• Fig-stuffed chicken breast with liver sauce, green asparagus, potato hash and sautéed cherry tomatoes;
• White Wine (Penedés- Viña Sol);
• Water; and
• Caprichio, Bread and Olive oil (with Lemon).

This was the Gourmet full menu. A faster option (Express menu) was also available, with 1 cold main dish and dessert.
