very little used since the mid-90s, but by Winter 2005/2006, this station is to become much busier, as a relief for Sants, where AVE-related works are to cut down capacity dramatically until 2007/2008.

Shortly after the Olympics 1992, 4 tracks (No. 9-12) had been obturated with an artificial floor, so that part of this little-used station would accommodate concerts, exhibitions and other similar events...

As more capacity is needed to relieve Sants station throughout its AVE-related remodelling, works to re-instate tracks 9-12 had begun in late-April...

In late-July 2005, tracks 9-12 (and 13-15) were fully operational, while tracks 4-5 were still closed as capacity enhancement in the West end of this station had not yet reached completion.

Barcelona-Estaçió de França (ex-Barcelona Término), seen in 1993, at some time between 09.00am and 09.30am.

From the left to the right:
Class 269 ("Mil Rayas" livery) diagrammed on Eurocity "Catalan-Talgo" to Geneva
Class 269 (original livery) diagrammed on Diurno "Sierra de Gredos" to Madrid and Caceres
Trenhotel "Pau Casals-Salvador Dali" (with Talgo 6 night stock) just arrived from Zurich and Milan.

"Sierra de Gredos" was converted into a Intercity service (truncated in Madrid) in 1995, and then into a a Talgo 7/Altaria service, and was cut back in Barcelona-Sants in the late-90s.

The "Catalan-Talgo" and the Trenhotel deserted Barcelona-Estaçió de França in the mid-90s, and were re-routed to Barcelona-Sants, as pre-1992.
