RENFE_Canfranc1.jpg (151141 bytes)

RENFE - Spain
The huge border station of Canfranc in the Pyrenees mountains had a French (standard gauge) and a Spanish (broad gauge) side. Since a derailment in the 1970s French trains no longer reach Canfranc, and Spanish trains only use a side platform.
This used to be the main entrance (to the tunnel towards the main building).

Canfranc, June 1998. Although being a three-car DMU of considerable length, it looks ridiculously small in front of the huge station building.
