Luggage-van/2nd-class Corail compartment-car (B6Dd2) of SNCF-GL, seen idle in Metz.

This car belongs to the very first order for Corail compartment-cars (VU-75), and therefore features 6 seats per compartment, unlike subsequently-ordered 2nd-class Corail compartment cars.

Sadly, and unlike all other Corail cars (except So Ambulance/Dorm cars), B6Dd2 cars are devoid of air-conditioning.

None of them has ever undergone any refurbishment whatsoever. Those cars will reportedly be the very first ones among the Corail fleet to take their turn for the scrapyard.

These cars have been fewer and fewer used since the late-90s. Yet, one can spot the new "Corail" logo on this one...

Technical inscriptions of a Corail B6DdČ carriage

Here you can see the technical inscriptions of a Corail B6DdČ carriage.It is permitted to run in France at a max speed of 160 kph , has equipment for the 4 main power systems in Europe (1000V~17Hz/1500V~50Hz/1500V=/3000V=) , is allocated to the depot of Marseille Blancarde , its weight is 39t , which becomes 45t if the carriage is running on a UIC505 loading gauge.It is equipped with Oerlikon disk brakes and an Electro-pneumatical brake installation.The meaning of the type B6DdČ is : 6 compartiments 2nd class + 2 baggage compartiments.
