RIB 88s are actually ex-RIB 60 sets displaced from Paris Commuter traffic to TER duties. To this end, they went through an extensive remodelling in 1988, with Z2-style interiors and a RRR-style cab. The fleet used on TER Midi-Pyrénées also benefited from a further (yet lighter) overhaul in 1998-99.
