RTG_Ballersdorf_1.jpg (35225 bytes)

Mk2 Jet Train (RTG), seen on a Lyons-Strasburg "Turbotrain" service, on the Ballersdorf viaduct.
Thanks to their very light weight per axle (15t), RTGs had clearance for 160km/h on that viaduct, whereas all other kinds stock were (and are still) restricted to 120km/h in that curve.

"Turbotrain" service (probably the 1573/2) from Strasburg to Lyon Perrache, seen on the private network of MDPA (Potash Mines).
This diversion was due to the reconstruction of a bridge on the main line between Bollwiller and Richwiller.

At that stage, this formation was about to join the Strasburg-Mulhouse main line, which it had left at Bollwiller.

Mk2 Jet Train (RTG), seen on "Turbotrain" 6673/2 (Lyon Perrache-->Strasbourg), seen in the Doubs Valley, between Besançon and Montbéliard.

At this stage, the valley becomes wider and fewer twisty, so that RTGs would speed up from 100 to 115km/h at this place.
Loco-Hauled formations would (and will) speed up from 90 to 110 km/h only...
