It was used from 1968 to 1996 in revenue operation to change bogies on Franco-Iberic through cars (mainly couchettes). In the good old days, it would accommodate up to some 60 cars each way on a daily basis...
This facility was designed so as to accommodate 4 UIC-X cars at the same time, using this dual-gauge single-track.
