Le Creusot TGV Parkway station.

This basic, airport-style building actually accommodates 2 concourses:

  • Upper, on the left (for departures); and
  • Lower, on the right (for arrivals).

Le Creusot TGV Parkway station.

Platform/building interface, with:

  • the Lower concourse in the foreground (for arrivals), aligned with the underpass from platform 2 (Southbound);
  • the Upper concourse in the background (for departures), with direct access to platform 1 (Northbound).
Unsurprisingly, the building layout favours traffic to/from the North, i.e. Paris.

Still, Le Creusot TGV is one of the best-designed TGV Parkway stations in France.

Le Creusot TGV Parkway station.

Upper concourse (for departures), pretty busy with passengers waiting for TGV 5154 (Grenoble-Lille Europe) and TGV 6602 (Lyon Perrache-Paris Gare de Lyon).

The roof was extensively rebuilt in 2000/2001.

South end of Le Creusot TGV Parkway station, looking towards Lyons.

One can notice the chord which branches off both HSL tracks, for Montchanin PLM station.

While this chord is currently used for maintenance purposes only, it could fairly accommodate regional/urban services with the Metropolitan area of Le Creusot-Montchanin-Montceau les Mines, one of the busiest areas standing between Paris and Lyons...
