Forecourt of Lyon-Brotteaux station.

In pre-TGV days, this station would primarily cater for traffic between Strasburg/Geneva/North Alps (via Culoz) and Lyon-Perrache/The South.
At the outset of the TGV Age (27/09/1981), TGVs would also call there, on their way between Paris and Lyon-Perrache/St-Etienne.
On 13/06/1983, it eventually closed down, and was replaced with the newly-built station of Part-Dieu (located some 500m further South), which itself got most of the North-South traffic hitherto accommodated at Lyon-Perrache.
The Metro station is located right underneath the forecourt.

Main building of Lyon-Brotteaux (former) station.

Since it closed down on 13/06/1983, this building has been nicely refurbished in various stages.

Wings accommodate restaurants and bars, while the main building is used for various purposes: exhibitions, auction sales...
