241 P 16, built 1947 by Creusot-Schneider as one of 35 locomotives 241 P. These post-war locomotives are an improvement of the PLM 241 C 1, first European steam locomotive with four coupled wheelsets of 2 m diameter. This too is a four-cylinder compound engine. The last 241 P was delivered in 1952, the last SNCF-designed steam locomotive. The 241 P were used in the south-east and north of France, then after electrification of the mainlines, between Lyon and Marseille. The last went out of service in 1969. Weight 131.4 t, length (including tender) 26.95 m, wheel diameter 2.02 m, speed 120 km/h.
