Rubber-tyre tram (TVR) trunk line of Caen.

Mode-changing point (guided---> non-guided), so that TVR sets can leave the line and serve other areas through standard streets, in Diesel mode.

Unlike the Nancy TVR, those devices are not used in revenue service.
The rubber-tyre tram by Lohr (Translohr) has conversely not been designed to run as a non-guided vehicle.

TVR_Caen_y2.jpg (72869 bytes)

Rubber-tyre tram set (TVR).

Rear end. As so many other conventional trams, TVR is unidirectional, and therefore requires reversing loops at end stations.

More specific is the licence-plate requirement, given that TVR is subject to the Highway Code, as any other road vehicle.
Conversely, the rubber-tyre tram by Lohr (Translohr), running/to run in Clermont-Ferrand, Padova, L'Aquila and Venezia (Mestre) is regarded as a railway vehicle, and is thence exempt from this requirement.
