Z-7001 "Zébulon" experimental high-speed railcar, seen on trials Southeast to Paris.

This is actually a former Class 7100 (Z-7115) railcar of 1961, rebuilt in 1972, with a view to testing various components for a would-be electric TGV, at a time when TGV-001 was still to pave the way for Jet TGVs.

Actually, some key components of TGV PSE were proven on this railcar: pantographs, motors, braking and shafts.

It eventually ran at 309km/h on 15th October 1975, but was unfortunately scrapped in 1981.
