One of the mark 2 coaches in Arriva livery hauled by Class 50 diesel locomotive 50049 <i>Defiance</i> (one cab of which is visible on the right) and Class 37 diesel locomotive 37425 <i>Pride of the Valleys</i> (one the other end of the train), which like the Class 50 is in BR Large Logo livery.

The train was one of two operating shuttle services between Newport and Cardiff Central to cater for the extra demand generated by the Rugby Union <i>Heineken Cup</i> final between Munster and Biarritz at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium.
